Your Role

As Relief HGV Driver, you’re the face of the company and ultimately responsible for the delivery and collection of site accommodation & welfare units in a safe, efficient and timely manner while providing the best in class customer service. You will be working closely with the operations team on installing whole site setups, including stacking & de-stacking of accommodation units.  The ideal candidate would have some experience in the hiring industry; however, this is not essential as training and coaching would be provided.

  • Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed in a safe and timely manner
  • Be professional and courteous with customers and the public
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as requested in a timely and accurate manner
  • Complete daily checks/paperwork on lorry and crane
  • Complete Risk Assessments on sites
  • Report any faults/accidents to Dispatch/Managers using the correct procedure
  • Required to keep up to date with various transport and driving regulations
  • Wear the correct uniform and PPE at all times
  • Ensure the lorry is kept clean and tidy on a daily basis
  • You will ensure that the yard is maintained, kept tidy, clean and in accordance with company presentation standards and legal requirements
  • Operate the necessary and appropriate machinery as required to satisfy the effective running of the yard
  • Utilise equipment and materials as advised under manufacturer instructions and within the legal and compliance requirements
  • Maintain stock levels in the yard and support with stock takes
  • Receive equipment on the return to yard and complete collection notes; recording any damage and fuel required
  • Ensure the refuse bins are emptied 
  • Clean equipment internally and externally
  • Refuel equipment and record any fuel used
  • Work in close partnership with the Hire Manager / Workshop Manager to ensure work is prioritised in line with hire schedules


About You

You will hold a full HGV Class 1 driving license without endorsements or penalties and a HIAB qualification. Ideally, you will have a completed CPC and hold a tachograph driver’s card and have completed the NPORS Plant loader. Previous experience in operating a lorry loader crane from 31 tonnes up to 66 tonnes is desirable, along with CPCS and/or ALLMI lorry loader operator qualifications.
