Banner Plant is one of the leading plant hire specialists for construction, infrastructure and industry. We offer a wide range of products and services for sale and hire, and continually refresh our hire fleet, transport and service facilities.

Operating from seven regional depots in the north of England, we have supplied the most modern, technically acceptable and competitive construction products and services for over 65 years. We are currently recruiting a Hire Desk Controller to join the team at Derby who will support the Tool, Plant and Access departments.

The Role:

Hire Activities

  • Work in accordance with all company systems, policies and procedures to effectively manage and monitor all hire desk activities whilst at the same time delivering against performance targets and customer expectations
  • Set up new hire contracts in line with company policy and procedure
  • Create quotes (in line with given parameters)
  • Negotiate costs (within given parameters) for hire
  • Answer all calls and emails in line with service level expectations
  • Deal with the resolution of questions and queries in an appropriate and timely manner and in line with service level agreements
  • Flag any risks or issues to the Hire Manager / Depot Manager
  • Ensure that all systems and record keeping processes are fully utilised and information is accurate and kept up to date
  • Liaise with the Accounts Team to deal effectively and swiftly with existing and new customer account queries and / or questions
  • Liaise with workshop colleagues in relation to all hire activities so as to ensure effective and efficient management of all resources (people and equipment)
  • Work in close partnership with the transport team to ensure deadlines and expectations are met and managed
  • Support colleagues to ensure that all equipment is presented in accordance with the company requirements and expectations
  • Assist with the sourcing of equipment not available in Depot to satisfy hire requirements
  • Provide information as requested and expected so that management information / reports can be provided to the Hire Manager and Depot Manager

Customer Relationship & Account Management

  • Build, foster and maintain customer relationships through regular contact (virtual or f2f)
  • Ensure that the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is fully utilised, managed in accordance with expectations and is updated on a regular basis e.g. lead generation, pipeline management, quotes and meeting notes
  • Build strong relationships with providers, partners and suppliers
  • Provide guidance, advice and support to customers in relation to products and services
  • Maintain knowledge of existing customers’ business, operations and objectives
  • Build strong and close relationships with the Sales Team
